Are you a huge fan of the Dr. Who series? Then you will probably find the TARDIS MAME Console to be worth looking into, where it was custom built from scratch to fit a MAME console within. It can be closed when not in use, and will naturally need to be opened up if you want to get some arcade action going on. Over here at Coolest Gadgets, we won’t support the illegal use of ROMs, but this could very well tempt many of you out there to start on an illegal ROM downloading spree just to make full use of such a geeky looking console.

DIY Stargate looks awesome

Are you a huge fan of the Stargate sci-fi series? Apparently, this dad is, which is why he decided to spend some quality time with his son to build up a replica Stargate using nothing but their hands and a whole lot of heart from scratch. There were no blueprints to refer to – only one’s imagination, and the materials required included wood, coat hangers, tubing and styrofoam. To make it all the more realistic, the gate will actually spin through and through, although it won’t transport you to a distant galaxy or universe, while there is absolutely no chance of hostiles coming through your way either.

Modified Game Boy does GBA games

I remember my first Game Boy well – it came with a free Tetris Game Pak, and boy did I go through hours upon hours of gaming, neglecting my diet as well as studies only to be severely reprimanded by parents when my school grades were released. After that, I had sporadic run ins with the Game Boy, but fast forward a decade or so, and I was finally working, so I cobbled together my own meagre savings to purchase a Game Boy Advance instead – now how about that! This mod is interesting in a way where it uses a Game Boy’s chassis to store a GBA’s innards within, which means you will be able to play GBA, GBC and GB carts. A rechargeable battery is also thrown in for your gaming pleasure, making sure you need not worry about AAs ever again. I’m curious to know where the GBA’s shoulder buttons are located though…

Manga doll turned into robot

Who would have thought that something as cute as a regular manga doll can actually be transformed into a robot? That’s exactly what an enterprising person did, using old, unwanted manga dolls to stuf a controller board behind her thick mane. The doll itself measures no more than 4″ in height, so there isn’t enough space to throw in more cool functions and features, so don’t expect it to go about serving you at your beck and call. Some servos have also been included into the chassis – or should we say, doll’s body, to have it gain some degree of movement. Nice to see what dedication can result in, eh?
